3. Conduct public hearing to approve street name change from bend o' river drive to "bend of the river drive" in precinct 3.
>> move to open the public hearing.
>> second.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
>> let's see how this one goes.
>> to me it --
>> ma'am, if you would come up and come have a seat. Let's let carol go first.
>> yes. The -- the addressee received a request from the property owner to change the street name and primarily due to the different interpretations that they have received of the bend o river drive versus the bend of the river drive.
>> yes. That's correct. To me changing it from bend o river to bend of the river is all pain and no gain, really. It's -- I don't see any advantage in doing that. We would have to change all of our legal documents, all of our mail, all of our magazine addresses, I don't see much purpose in doing that. I’m one of the oldest residents on the street, i've never had any problems with bend o river drive in the 20 years that I have been there.
>> whose idea is this?
>> it was one of the property owners, we sent out letters, 8 were in favor, one against and five did not respond.
>> we try to be democratic down here. Francis hurley.
>> was that one or --
>> I would suspect so.
>> ms. Hurley, did you talk to any of your neighbors about it. I think that you bring up a legitimate concern, if you have got a lot of documentation that has that on there, I would have thought that everybody would have thought why do we want to go through this, is there any great story that we need to know about -- about -- I mean was -- davey crockett on this road or something.
>> I don't know all of the different stories, how some of the wording was offensive that's what I was told, I don't know exactly what those are, but --
>> question. I mean this is really being done for 911 addressing purposes. Is this something that would necessitate anybody needing to change any kind of a legal indictment? I think this is really more intended to assist those when somebody calls in to 911 that they know for sure that this is what they are referring to, did you know if this would necessitate what ms. Hurley brought up about making changes to legal documents.
>> I would think so. Not being a lawyer I don't know, but I would think so. But gut feeling tells me that you would have to change all of your deeds and addresses on your driver's license, everything else.
>> okay. That sounds expensive.
>> that's the reason that I am surprised that 8 would be 4, one would be against. Because it is a legitimate question. This is the first that i've heard. How do you do this?
>> can we find out a little bit more about the necessity for it?
>> that's fine with me.
>> carol, I don't even mind -- since there are only 8 -- there are 8 for it?
>> uh-huh.
>> having my office call the 8 and asking them that question. I mean, there is a legitimate concern about -- about changes on all of the documentation for -- and did you not think about that? It just sort of -- we can postpone and get the information and come back, bring that back.
>> [inaudible] addressing system.
>> getting the answer back in terms of what does this mean on the 911 --
>> i'll check with the 911.
>> we could finish off the hearing today, just postpone the action item if you think it might be helpful in terms of just making sure that people --
>> is the weekend long enough?
>> you bet. Ms. Hurley if you would go up to my office and see bob Moore and give him your name and number and tell him what we are going to do, we will follow up. Thanks.
>> thank you.
>> thank you.
>> would you like to send out a form or something in response to a request to -- to change the name of the --
>> yes, 35 letters go out. We post the -- the notice in the street, yes, we send --
>> the person that initiates the request, how do we -- do we capture the request.
>> it's usually a letter from the person asking the 911 committee to review the name and change the name of the -- of the street.
>> okay.
>> and then [inaudible] needs and make a decision, we send out a -- certified letters, get responses, then we put it on the court.
>> okay. Would anyone else like to give testimony during this public hearing? Carol, if you wouldn't mind calling bob in my office, bob Moore, telling him what we are going to do, we are going to follow up, postpone it for a week and come back. Move to close the public hearing.
>> second.
>> all in favor.
>> that passes by unanimous vote.
