26, approve contract award to the land design studio, r.f.q. Number q 30024 jj for the east metro design project.
>> judge, I'm pretty excited, I think the whole community is excited about moving forward with this park and I would like to thank the voters of Travis County for actually approving this particular moneys that we're dealing here with this morning -- this afternoon, rather, as far as east metro park. It's really significant and I would just like to move forward with this as rapidly as possible, but of course there is a profit that we must go -- process we must go through, but thank the voters and t.n.r. Staff for coming up with a person that get us started as far as the design and stuff like that of the east metro park w that I guess i'll move.
>> second.
>> any more questions, discussions or brownnosing -- or comments?
>> I do -- commissioner Davis, the term of the contract has 300 days and there's several phases. The planning and the design work. So it is almost a year-long contract. But in phases, and it just takes that amount of time to plan something at this scale.
>> are you with land design?
>> yes, sir.
>> thank you for your patience. Commissioners court court is fascinating, isn't it? [laughter]
>> I would like to ask a question because the question has been posed to me and I guess during this process and after you get your work started, I know there had to be a series of public meetings for certain input that must be required that we asked for by the community in this process. And I would like to basically get a time line on that as far as when that portion of this will take place.
>> sure. This is -- action a section right there on the workshop, we're going to include all the folks in this area, and we will give you the heads up when the workshop is going to be. It's going to be within those two or three months. Planning is going to take about four months. The design is going to take about six months. So total contract is ten months.
>> okay. With that, I would like to --
>> there's already a motion and second.
>> I have one other comment I just wanted to bring to the court's attention that our consultant has committed to use about 32% of minority firms on this project.
>> thank you. Appreciate it.
>> 32%? That's great.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote.
