We will try to reach as many of you as we can this morning, beginning with number one. That is to accept a ballistic vest for canine unit simba from the citizens academy as a donation to Travis County. Is simba here. And there is the vest that is coordinated with the coat, the natural coat that simba has. [ laughter ] . Good morning.
>> good morning. [inaudible - no mic].
>> you may have to get to ma microphone, the one on the end.
>> can you hear me now. My name martha ball are and I represent the Travis County academy and I officially present david besa a canine vest for his partner, simba. We support the sheriff's department in many activities -- (barking).
>> and last June we had a fund-raiser supporting the canine unit. It is our pleasure to present this vest to the officer and simba. [ applause ] david was telling me earlier that -- david was telling me earlier that we've actually used the vest a couple of times already. In one situation there was actually a man with a gun, so it could have been a dangerous situation. So we've already seen some positive work and we really appreciate the citizen's academy and their donations. [ laughter ]
>> there's something about working before you've had breakfast that leave you a little edgy.
>> before coffee. [ laughter ]
>> move that we accept the vest and express our appreciation to the citizen's academy, along with the sheriff's office and also thank simba for his or her hard work. Is that his -- his hard work.

>> looking real good. Laugh [ applause ] thank y'all very much. Commissioner Gomez will be absent for the entire meeting.
