>> how are you doings? I'm valerie winger with insure a kid.
>> should I read it for you.
>> love to hear it.
>> whereas every child has a right to a healthy future to live in -- to live in good health and to receive quality health care to ensure their future, whereas insure a kid works to educate the community and enroll uninsured Travis County children in quality health insurance programs through tex-care partnership, whereas children need regular checkups and immunizations, that's regular checkups and immunizations, to stay on the path to a healthy future and whereas insure a kid is working to educate parents and children about the importance of preventive health care and have created the insure a kid get it, youth it tool kit to make learning easier, now therefore be it resolved that we the Travis County commissioners court do hereby proclaim the week of February 7th through 15th, next week, 2003, as insure a kid week 2003 in Travis County. And call upon all citizens to learn about the importance of preventive health care for children and adults to call 324-chip, to get more information about chip and children's medicaid and to call their child's primary care provider to schedule a well child checkup. Regular checkups and immunizations, I move approval.
>> second.
>> good morning.
>> good morning.
>> judge Biscoe and commissioners, this is I believe the fourth time that we have been here for insure a kid week. We have been here in Travis County as well as Williamson county to ensure children in chip, the children's health insurance program as well as medicaid. This year we are launching or get it, use it, campaign. It's important for kids to have health insurance, but it's even more important for them to use it. We have developed our get it and use it tool kit unveiling this Friday. Tool kit with a notebook, with a velcro seal that will allow parents to keep medical records about their cedz all in one place -- kids all in one place, helpful hints on talking with the doctor so both the doctor and parents can partner together to ensure good health for their kids. We will be distributing about 25,000 of these tool kits throughout central Texas. We are encouraging children and adults and everyone, regardless of their health insurance coverage to get well child or well grownup checkups to establish a medical home, so that you will have a doctor that you can call if an emergency comes up. So that you can go to the doctor for simple emergencies and save the emergency room for serious emergencies. So we appreciate the commissioners declaring next week insure a kid week in Travis County. And we look forward to all of the children in Travis County having a healthy future.
>> and will those tool kits be distributed free of charge?
>> yes, they will be. We will be mailing them to families who are currently enrolled in the program and then we will also be distributing some as we enroll new families in the program.
>> okay. And those would want more information about the tool kits or the program can call 324-chip.
>> that's correct. We answer the phone between 8:30 and 5:00 every day, our phone answerers are all bilingual.
>> thanks for coming down.
>> thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> all in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. This will help you show our full support.
>> I appreciate it. Thank you very much.
>> thank you.
