Item 37

View captioned video.

Item 37 is to discuss certain personnel issues regarding merlin spanky handily, receive legal advice and take appropriate action. This is under the consultation with attorney exception to the open meetings act. We will discuss in executive session and john, we do need [inaudible].
>> yeah.
>> we'll discuss only this item, then come back to court.

>> we have just returned from executive session where we discussed item no. 37. As a follow-up to -- to last Thursday's emergency meeting of the commissioners court, and e-mails, phone calls, and other communications that members of the commissioners court received from various starflight employees, I move that another member of the commissioners court join me in conducting interviews of star flight workers between now and 5:00 Friday. With an eye toward gathering additional information. That we speak with county employees first, that we communicate with the city of Austin and the indicate our interest in conducting similar interviews with city of Austin employees who are part of starflight. That we put together a written summary of the information received for the commissioners court, in anticipation of these two items being posted and other appropriate items being posted on Tuesday, February 4th, for appropriate action by the commissioners court. That we communicate, also, with mr. Handley and try to get his responses to the same basic questions.
>> second that. Second.
>> yes, sir? I believe that covers what we need to and I guess in terms of an explanation, I am not sure that we gave each starflight participant an opportunity to give us the whole truth last Thursday and hopefully the two-on-one discussion will facilitate more open discussion of relevant issues with these individuals. There may well be certain individuals who are not able to get with us this week. And in that case, my position would be that we prepare ourselves to gather all we can for action next Tuesday. So we will try to accommodate all of the affected starflight workers, but if it's impossible to get with certain ones, then we simply live with that. Any more discussion of that motion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. With commissioner daugherty at another county -- had another county commitment.
