Item 16

16, approve personnel amendments. There is one non-routine item. That is recommended at a much higher level than I anticipated. My information would be to support a 10% increase for this interim, increasing responsibilities. I was the one that asked carol to work with the human resources to try to figure out what these additional duties are worth. I just think 22.3% is a little too high. If you take over a position in an acting capacity, we give a [inaudible] increase or 10%?
>> [inaudible] and that's based on the support and documentation provided by the department.
>> this is for, like, a full-term additional responsibility position in starflight.
>> judge, would you accept the suggestion that if we're handling this as interim, that that is an appropriate thing to do, but if this interim is recontemplated to be permanent, that we can revisit what the final number ought to be?
>> sure.
>> and I think that would be a good explanation to those employees and I can support that. Interim is interim and permanent --
>> my motion is there be a 10% increase, that we basically take this to be an interim appointment. And -- which we will revisit. And I'm happy to do it in, let's say, 75 days. I'm tempted to say 90. 60 is shorter. About 75 days.
>> 75?
>> yeah, and I'm thinking that we ought to have permanent action abilities -- a little bit before that time.
>> second.
>> seconded by commissioner Gomez. Any more discussion of that? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Now move approval of the routine items.
>> second.
>> any discussion on that motion? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote also.
>> thank you.
>> thank you. Appreciate your emergency work on that item.
>> no problem.
>> thank you.
