Item 20

View captioned video.

Item no. 20 is to disclose relationship with key contracting person that is a spouse, discuss and approve order waiving the requirements of discretionary contract pursuant to section 32.004 f of the Travis County ethics policy for the purpose of approving contracts during fy '03 between Travis County and Austin Travis County mental health mental retardation. First the disclosure, this is my wife, she's employed by Austin Travis County mhmr. Public relations, last year we had 34 contracts with Austin Travis County mhmr, we brought those contracts to the commissioners court one at a time. What this will do basically is to be a year-long disclosure of that relationship. What I would do, in addition to this, is that if there is something that she may have some part in, I would simply bring it back. I can't think of anything of a public relations nature that would involve Travis County in a contract with Travis County mhmr. This is to save us time in court doing the same thing, basically.
>> correct.
>> each time before we have simply disclosed the relationship. And what we did here is disclose the relationship for the year.
>> uh-huh.
>> and obviate having to come back for specific contracts for specific additional disclosures.
>> uh-huh.
>> that's correct.
>> but I would tell you approximate if it looks like she's involved in a particular contract, I would probably just bring it back anyway.
>> uh-huh.
>> judge, I move approval of our annual acknowledgment of the lovely donnalyn Biscoe and her employment with mhmr and everything that goes with this item.
>> second.
>> her lovely husband will abstain. [ laughter ] all in favor? I show the whole court voting in favor. Show me abstaining.
