21. Approve contract award for restoration of the roofing system on the travis county jail, ifb no. B020157-dm, to the low bidder, d.r. Kidd company, incorporated. Good morning.
>> judge, the reason why I pulled that is because basically we do not have any information in the backup as far as warranty is concerned. Of course roofs just like anybody else -- just like anything else can leak. But there are roofing companies that do look at warranties after the work has been complete. With the mold factor in place and all of the inconveniences of a roof that may not properly be installed, is a concern of mine, especially if it's going here, I guess this is on the old jail, isn't it?
>> yes, it's on the old jail.
>> so I want to make sure that we have some type of warranty components of the -- of the contract if we are proceeding that direction. Can anyone speak to in a.
>> yes, sir. We specify in the specifications that the contract has -- does provide a one-year warranties on the installation, the manufacturer a 10 year warranty on the materials and the system, so we do have a requirement and they will provide that warranty at the completion of the job.
>> okay.
>> isn't that all tabulated here, the warranties and inspection letter, they are both indicated that they are there.
>> right.
>> yes.
>> it's a part of the requirements of the project.
>> well, I didn't see that. Of course I want to make sure that the follow-up question to that was if they go out of business or anything like that, how do we pursue it?
>> yes, sir, it's a manufacturers warranty the 10 year requirement.
>> under the manufacturers. [inaudible]
>> issue it from the manufacturer. And they will also inspect the work as it's being done to make sure that it meets all of their requirements using their materials.
>> well, I did not have that information in part of my backup. So those are the questions that I needed to pose to ensure that what we are doing here we have got some kind of protection in the long run.
>> yes, sir.
>> good question, commissioner.
>> I did not have it in my backup, that's the reason I posed the question.
>> good question.
>> I move approval.
>> second.
>> any more discussion.
>> thank you all very much.
>> judge, I would just point out that dr kidd company is a h.u.b. Vendor.
>> sure is, that's what I'm saying.
>> indicate odd the backup.
>> all in favor? Thank you. That passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you.
