Executive Session Items
According to my little survey, ms. Slade, we only have one item left, number 17, consider and take appropriate action to fill vacancy in the office of the Travis County tax assessor collector on January 1, 2012 and related issues.
and this will be an executive session discussion under personnel matters and consultation with attorney.
we'll discuss the applicants for this position, four of them, but we'll return to open court before taking any action.
We have returned from executive session where we are going to discuss, number 17, regarding filling a vacancy in the office of the Travis County tax assessor collector on January 1, 2012, hopefully.
motions.
>> judge, I would like to move that we select lois lopez to be the next county tax assessor for Travis County.
>> is there a second?
that motion dies for lack of a second.
I move we appoint stan wilson.
is there a second?
that motion dies for lack of a second.
is there a motion?
>> I move we appointty norton.
>> second.
>> second by Eckhardt.
>> discussion on the motion?
well, I think we are blessed with four outstanding applicants.
one had issues we were not quite able to overcome.
verify the operations out there, the two largest ones are vehicle registration and collection of taxes, and so it looks like all of them have somexperience in those two, but it does -- the amount of experience does vary.
so given where we are, it's good to be in a position of whether or not being able to make a poor choice based on applicants available.
>> I do recall and the public is well aware of this and that is the fact that the four applicants, they all fit the support, each of which we came up with, the offers died.
I think they are all well qualified applicants in that regard.
>> and my appreciation goes out to nelda wells is spears that we have a vast amount of riches.
>> any discussion on the motion?
all those in favor?
this passes by unanimous vote.
several things ms. Norton needs to be notified of and to prepare for taking the office and can somebody in legal do that, or should i?
>> we can do that.
>> we can is that the same as we will?
I will.
I will personally do it.
>> thank you, mr. Hilly.
>> certainly.
