It rides, whereas the -- it reads, whereas the secretaries of health and foreign affairs of mexico, the ministry's of foreign affairs of guatemala, el salvador, honduras, colombia, ecuador and peru, the institute of mexicans abroad, the mexican social security institute, california's department of public health, the california endowment, the california health care foundation, the united states-mexico border health commission and the health initiative of the americas, a program of the united -- of the university of california at berkley school of public health have recognized the necessity of improving access to health services for the underserved latino population in the united states of america. Whereas according to the united states census this country is home to more than 44.5 million people of latino origin. Whereas improving the public health of mobile populations requires multiple approaches and service, design and delivery, funding priorities and most fundamentally requires strong binational commitment. Whereas in october 2001 through 2009 the health initiative of the americas and partnering organizations convene the first binational health weeks, an unprecedented effort overseen by multiagency taskforces which conducted health promotion and education activities for the underserved latino population in the united states. Binational health week is one of the nation's largest mobilization efforts to improve the health and well-being of the latino community that lives in the united states. Binational health week is an annual event and consists of a series of free activities, all to promote health and well-being as well as education in health matters. This year the.

They are taking place throughout travis county. Our goal with this activity is to increase the latino community's understanding and awareness of preventive health. There will be free exercise classes, nutrition education classes, diabetes awareness classes, a variety of activities and they're all free.
