Citizens Communication
Citizens communication is next. Three citizens have signed in. Kenneth schnieder is number one, followed by ronnie reeferseed, followed by morris priest. Good morning.
>> my name is contend neath schnieder, north ridge acres a third world country neighborhood. Our water table just like on 36 that told us -- i don't know if you seen it and everything, just like a picture on my shirt and everything, that's how come septic tanks do not work. No way for them to work. When you have got to pump water out to put a tank in the ground, a throw a whole bunch of dirt on top of the cess pool, you think water is going to go away, it doesn't work. It's a health risk. Going to be an outbreak. I saw dead birds out in the swamp, i wasn't going to walk out there to get them, i couldn't get a picture of them. I don't understand that paper too well. I went to the city council the other day, last thursday, they sent out
>> [indiscernible] going back next thursday. He told me that he was going to talk to this guy over here from the texas economics or something. That's -- texas commission or something, that's where the letter came from. Apparently they are waking up at the water development board, i'm going back there in a couple of weeks. Spoke to them. One of them called me the other day, couldn't believe it, the dead animals, being a cess pool, he said all that we have to do is the paperwork, put in for it. Dell computer says they might put some money out, too. They said on the news, three and a half -- they said three --
>> $35 million.
>> $35 million, i can't get it out. $35 million to fix that little area there. You could do a whole town probably for that, 35 million. That there is 3,000 -- they come up with $3 million instead of 35 million-dollar. The problem is going to have to be fixed one way or the other. I think we're running out of time. When i started seeing dead animals, i never saw dead animals before here lately. They never had a detention pond out there that looks like a swimming pool or a river out there like we do now. They dug all the way down to the water table. And the water table is coming up, every time it rains, brings that slush right on through there and -- got two manholes on each side, like you see on the shirt, all running into round rock and austin. I can't understand. One -- what are y'all going to do, just like you did the water, you did the same thing that you did on the water. I can't understand what the big deal is. Judge you told me, you wanted to get them box at the same time. Brown told me that there, told her that, i think he told me that, too. You wanted to do both at the same time. But -- but we didn't get them both at the same time. And -- i put a call in for dan smith. I wish that he would call me back. I would like to get him on my side, maybe he could help me push more, he has more pull power than i had. I don't know why you backed out on me judge, i don't know. I know that you are a good man, you don't want people to live like this. I don't know. I guess it's getting -- tiresome coming up here begging like this all the time. I made an effort. I'm going to do it, fight it until i get it done. I will probably die before i see it. It's an urgent need, a problem. That's what they said at the water development board, they said this is an urgent need problem look like to me. I have to find out who to call, told them about that and everything. But i just don't know.
>> do you plan to move to travis county any time soon, mr. Snide erwin center.
>> it don't make any difference. When the city --
>> it makes all of the difference in the world. I have one million constituents. I --
>> you work together.
>> i'm not looking for number one. But if you move to this county, i will gladly add you.
>> move two streets down i would be in this county.
>> well, do that, let me know if you have done it.
>> you ain't going to help me unless it's in travis county.
>> mr. Schnieder i don't know who you have been chatting with over at the state. I have been talking with the top people they don't paint the picture that you have painted. County staff has gone out, done inspections, they came up with zero of what you are saying.
>> it's 100-degrees out there, yes.
>> i can't tell you what the situation is in williamson county, but the people paid in travis county to conduct inspections of situations that you just complained of have come back with zero. I have asked them to go outlet after the next rain to see if the situation is different. They have promised to do that and we are out of time, i gave you your three minutes.
>> one more --
>> no, sir, no, sir, let me know if you move to travis county.
>> that -- shouldn't make any difference.
>> that makes all of the difference in the world to me. That last one took me five years more than $2 million and a dedicated staff working pretty much full time. I'm not committing to do that for you again. If staff were to come up with problems on the travis county side, though, i would feel a lot more an gated to act -- obligated to act. Ronnie reeferseed is next. Followed by morris priest. Followed by chuck watt.
>> won't you help us? Can't you go over there --
>> mr. Schnieder, please. You have a commissioners court in williamson county and you have got a lot of city officials, deal with them. Mr. Reeferseed, you still live in travis county, right?
>> you betcha.
>> all right.
>> thank y'all. Ronnie reeferseed sing hey kids give thanks for our patriotic soldiers and veterans, cherish your childhood, you are going to miss it believe me. Take that first hit off a cigarette or joint, take that first swig of alcohol, it's over kiddos, no more carefree days. Welcome to the grown up world of bills, obligations, other joys of being trapped in the adult world. Adulthood is not all that it's cracked up to be much meanwhile somebody has got to say shame on you israeli hate bigots for your information a flotilla of 8 delivering humanitarians were attacked while approaching the long time israeli blockade of gaza trip. Why? Because israel didn't approve of the democratically hamas leadership. Because the boating citizens of gaza voted for hamas, israel has been raging anti-democratic total war of punishment for years again on the gaza strip, palestinian women and children. Collective punishment is a geneva based war crime. Brutal killers from israel, your arrogance back fired and you blew it. We can and you will see the truth now. Know the tax paying voter will no longer put up with the treasonous hog wash, it's over. We can see the beginning of the end of zionism ruling. Now, real leadership, true conservativism treating all nations fairly as much as we can will win again as george washington warned us all in his prescient farewell address, we must avoid foreign entanglements at all cost to maintain the good will among all nations, no favoritism, nafta trade obligation that's we trade for exporting our own jobs overseas, we must return to competitive production on our own shores. On prison labor countries like china, our prison industry is not much better than red chinas. After all over 25% of all inmates rotting behind bars today are no non-violent marijuana offenses, our prisoners are also abused and exploited, total misdirection of valuable resources, we need taxpayers not prisoners for being hemp enthusiasts. Say no to the organized thug crime
>> [indiscernible] can help resuscitate our failing family farms for ever, calling for weekly updates for dr. Ron paul, ronpaul.org, randpaul 2010.com, lewrockwell.com and also check out info wars.com, the broadcast live six days a week 11 to 378 monday through friday, 4:00 to 6:00 on sundays, tune in and ask mayor toxic sludge why he makes taxpayers cough up toxic sludge he admitted never to drink while making all of the poor folk drink toxic sludge. Call them. That's 974-2250, mayor toxic sludge 974-2250, why toxic sludge?
>> thank you, mr. Reeferseed.
>> okay.
>> morris priest, followed by chuck watt.
>> commissioners, morris priest speaking on my own behalf. I did want to mention some mischaracterizations at best. Some of the things that's been going on in the media. I know that when we listen to these people such as the folks that ronnie was previously referring to about the fluoride, if you were to take a drop, a picture of water and set it out and let it just evaporate the chlorine out, which is the most harmful thing in the water, is the chlorine. It's cause of heart disease, maybe one of the reasons why margaret is not here and i've been praying for her, hope everybody will continue to pray for her. But there's effective ways to make change, there's effective ways to take stances on things. And this plan, this southwest 45 plan, it was always in the plan. When we look at our transportation system, if you look at what campo has done, the only thing that we have done is 183 a, absolutely the only thing that they have done. The only other thing was this boondoggle out on 290. Two years after the plan, two year working on it, two years to get the stimulus money which they just got in october to do the flyovers, probably only up to springdale. But basically we have these plans that have to come together, the federal highway administration and txdot and then we have the process and we saw that unfold on the gas ramps, so there's a funding process and you look at everything in the tip, it's -- it's all
>> [indiscernible] of money, you haven't have any money in four years. Basically one of the things that i wanted to mention was that we have a lot of people, i did call, you know, members of the county court, over the past few years, for information. I have never gotten it. Not from anybody on this court. This southwest 45 plan, it was always in the plan. I didn't want to get -- i wanted to get ahead of one really big life i saw it in the subcommittee report from campo. This was never a risk of being taken out ever. It was never at risk of being taken out. But our county spending this enormous amount of money on 973 out here is just mind boggling, more mind boggling than building 290. No justification for building this 290. We got documents dating back to august the 28th, 2007. Where it lays out this 973. And, you know, i just wanltsd to encourage -- want to encourage people to vote for julie kohen on the 1,212th, this coming election. -- the 12th this coming election. There's not an incumbent that i would vote for. I am asking the court to remove mills from the campo board. If you are not going to appoint somebody from the court to serve on campo, appoint me. There's -- in documentation -- this is a court reporter, the -- the minutes of the -- of the 290 agreement, talks in here about the people in precinct 1 were having problems, names a couple of people here, couple of neighborhood associations. They have said that tonight and yesterday this is the neal went to the ctrma meeting, many of the people in our neighborhood are dealing with landfill issues so they are unable to attend. We know how heavily precinct 1 is inundated with problems. Thank you.
>> thank you, mr. Priest.
>> chuck watt.
>> good morning, commissioners and judge. My name is chuck watt. I'm your occupational health and safety engineer. I'm here to talk to you about national cpr and aed week, the first week in june. Cpr was invented in 1960, now we are celebrating its 50th birthday. It was originated in the early 50s and 60s, started off with mouth to mouth recitation, which actually was described in the bible but rediscovered by some doctors in the '50s. In the '60s some doctors discovered the chest compressions, how they could help. In the late 1960, they put the two together to give us cpr as we have it today. Sudden cardiac arrest is the main cause of death in adults. Victim's chances fall 7 to 10% for every minute of delay until defibrillation. Few attempts at rescutation are successful if cpr and defibrillation are not provided within minutes of collapse. Nationally, approximately 95% of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. Cpr provides a trip people of oxygenated blood to the brain and heart to keep those organs alive until denumberration can be give -- defibrillation can be given. If cpr is started within four minutes of collapse and defibrillation within 10 minutes, a person has a 40% chance of survival. The key to survival is early cpr and early defibrillation. To that end, in 2004, this commissioners court established a travis county public access defibrillation program. Since then, we have installed 86 aed's and 54 -- in 54 travis county buildings and trained almost 600 employees in cpr and how to be trained lay rescuers. It's been a good program. But it's not done. We need more trained lay rescuers. We need people to be trained in cpr so that they can respond early to help someone. Hrmd risk management provides free training for travis county employees. The sheriff's department and juvenile probation also provide training to their employees. But we need more people trained. So, remember, the life someone saves might be yours. Thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> thank you.
>> so for residents who are listening today and who wish to get training, where in the community might they go?
>> they could contact most fire houses to see if they provide training. They could contact austin travis county e.m.s. To see if they provide training. They have a training program. You can check with some ymca's. The red cross. American heart association. A national safety council. There's a whole list of -- of local areas and/or national organizations that provide training.
>> okay. Thank you.
>> if there's any question, contact me in hrmd and i'll be glad to give you information.
>> thank you very much.
>> thank you.
>> there's a good phone on that?
