Travis County Commissioners Court
October 13, 2009,
Item 11
11.
consider and take appropriate action on a template interlocal agreement between Travis County and all of the small cities and villages wholly within Travis County for emergency medical services.
>> I promise that I won be as long -- I won't be as long but this one is good, too, because about a year ago we brought in about nine of the -- what we considered to be some of the more prominent as far as population, city managers and city administrators, because we felt like in order to complete this picture you had to have all of the pieces to make the picture.
the small cities, some 21, 22, small cities and villages, so we began working on revising the current e.m.s.
agreement that was written back in 1999 and 2000.
and 2001.
and the reason why we had to revise it is we wanted to make sure it was compatible with our theme and thought process of working together better.
in order to be able to do that, in order to be able to allow those doorstop, we went ahead and -- those doors to open, we went ahead and made these revisions to be able to meet those folks and trust those folks has been tremendous.
i just can't thank those folks enough for dedicating, working, revising the item agreement.
the template here will be more challenging because there are some small cities and villages that I haven't reached yet, but I will be and I will be going over this with them.
we currently have agreements with them.
so I think they're going to be delighted to see that we now have an agreement that does open up more doors because I think they are facing the same challenges as everybody along with population growth along with different things that are needed now.
this is a similar agreement that allows us to again share resources together, manor again is the perfect example of a small city that mayor phil tate tremendous leaders willing to come forward, leaders doing what is necessary to make it work.
so commend him as well as steve jones of Lakeway, I could go through the entire list.
but I look forward to going out and getting to know a lot of these folks that I haven't met.
but again I'm proud of this document and I think that it's going to do us proud, too.
>> is there a motion to approve.
>> second.
>> I mean --
>> is there a second.
>> discussion of the motion?
all in favor?
that passes by unanimous vote.
>> thank you.
>> thank you very much.
>> no, thank you.
