Travis County Commissioners Court
May 29, 2007
Item 26
26. Approve request for a proposed street name assignment for a private easement off cuernavaca drive to be known as "wood acre lane" in precinct 3.
>> you get the easy items, joe. As you may recall, we had a public hearing on this street naming. It was proposed to be brown dog. That did not have a majority of everyone in agreement. We have develop back out to the community, took a poll, to the meeting, took a poll, we had several proposed names. One again is -- is brown dog was proposed as was wood acre, bridge brook and jackaranda. All things considered it looks like wood acre edged out brown dog by one vote and so I would recommend that we approve wood acre as the name of the street and stop jackaranda with this agenda item
>> [laughter]
>> second.
>> could you say that -- three times in a row? Without looking at that page.
>> [laughter]
>> I so move.
>> second.
>> motion and seconded already. There are residents here on this item. Would you all like to address the court?
>>
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>>
>> [indiscernible]
>> any other alternative. Okay.
>>
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> they are telling you to come up to the mic. I'm sorry.
>>
>> [inaudible - no mic]
>> I wanted to say was make sure has we are very clear that gala and mr. Gieselman and kathy were just did a fantastic job in forcing everyone to do what the Commissioners court recommended or stated as a preference, which was reach a consensus, they did a very fine job of managing everyone and some dissents in the process.
>> you all did it in the old democratic fashion of voting, in person votes were counted as well as votes committed by e-mail.
>> that's correct.
>> okay.
>> as joe said, the total shows that wood acre edging out brown dog. Motion and a second to approve the staff recommendation of wood acre. And the residents can live with it, even though they don't like it, I understand it.
>> [laughter] all in favor of the motion? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you all very much.
