April 19, 2005
Item 22
22. Consider and take appropriate action on request to authorize the extension of the revised fee schedule for participation under the balcones canyonlands conservation plan - shared vision for a period of one year (until July 14t preserves.
>> judge, Commissioners, [indiscernible], Travis County. As you remember the balcones canyonland preserves, the fee schedule was originally set when the plan was issued in 1996. Due to the actions of the citizens advisory committee, which indicated that the fees were perhaps prohibitive and prevented members from the public from participating more fully in the plan, the citizens advisory committee recommended to the bccp coordinating committee that they consider a reduction of the fees. The -- the fees were reduced for a one-year period for the first time in 1998. And that fee structure has been recommended each year since. So for each of the last seven years, the reduced fee schedule of -- of $3,000 an acre for zone 1 that he is occupied endangered species habitat has been in place. Zone 2 which is habitat that the fish and wildlife service believes to be valid habitat but which they were not able to confirm was reduced to a rate of 1500 from the original rate of $2,750 an acre. The -- the recommendation of staff supports that of the bccp coordinating committee, which is that the resolution attached to the backup supporting the reduced fee structure, being supported by the court. I'll be happy to take any questions.
>> judge, at our last bccp coordinating meeting, mayor wynn and I the two board members there unanimously passed that to keep intact the reduced fee structure. We really feel like we're doing well with it. I think it provides the incentive that we need for the development community. So I would move unless there are questions I would move approval of it.
>> second of the resolution. Do I remember last time you made us do something goofy reading something more specific into the record or saying the resolution attached is what we are okay with.
>> I think the resolution attached. Same language from previous years.
>> from previous years, okay.
>> so only two people in the [indiscernible]
>> can't get sick on that committee.
>> there's a third member a representative of the fish and wildlife service but that's a non-voting member.
>> a way to get unanimity, right? All in favor? That passes by unanimous vote. Thank you.
